Douglas S. Bramley

Douglas S. Bramley has focused exclusively on representing employees and employers in all aspects of employment law for over 20 years. He prides himself on working closely with clients and providing practical, common sense advice on solving employment-related problems.

Mr. Bramley has successfully represented hundreds of clients in state and federal court proceedings and before administrative agencies such as the EEOC, the New Jersey Wage and Hour Division, and New Jersey Division on Civil Rights. He has argued cases before the New Jersey Appellate Division and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Bramley has litigated claims involving all forms of discrimination, harassment, whistleblowing and unlawful retaliation, unpaid wages and overtime, wrongful discharge, breach of contract, violation of civil rights, defamation, tortious interference and related claims. He has represented employees at all levels – from senior executives to entry level employees – in a broad spectrum of industries, including pharmaceutical companies, financial services providers, big-box retail stores, hospitals, law enforcement agencies, technology companies, management consulting firms, entertainment companies, manufacturing companies and law firms.

Mr. Bramley also counsels small to mid-size employers in all aspects of employment law. He has extensive experience litigating the enforcement of non-compete and non-solicitation clauses, as well as the drafting and negotiating of employment contracts, independent contractor agreements, restrictive covenants and severance agreements.

Awards

Mr. Bramley is a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which is limited to attorneys who have won multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements. Fewer than 1% of attorneys in the United States are members.

In 2022, Mr. Bramley was selected by his peers as one of the Best Lawyers in America® for the 14th consecutive year (2009 to 2022) in the specialty of Employment Law, Individuals. In addition, from 2014 to 2022, Mr. Bramley has been selected to the New Jersey Super Lawyers list. Each year, no more than five percent of the lawyers in the State are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor. From 2006 to 2013, Mr. Bramley was listed as a New Jersey Super Lawyer, Rising Star, which is an honor given to only 2.5 percent of New Jersey attorneys age 40 and younger.

Mr. Bramley has served as the Chair of the Labor & Employment Law Committee of the Monmouth County Bar Association for the 2018-2019, 2020-2021 and 2022-2023 terms, and as a Sub-Committee Co-Chair for the NJSBA Labor & Employment Law Section.

Teaching

Mr. Bramley provides general employment law and harassment training to employers and lectures frequently on employment law to attorneys through the New Jersey Institute For Continuing Legal Education (ICLE), with a particular emphasis on post-employment non-compete and non-solicitation restrictions.

Mr. Bramley is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York, as well as before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Southern District of New York and before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

He is a graduate of the University of Richmond and Seton Hall Law School.
